Named after 17-century missionary and explorer Father Jaques Marquette, Marquette University was initially an all-male institution, and became the first coeducational Catholic university in the world in 1909 when it began admitting its first female students. Offering 83 majors and 80 minors to choose from, Marquette invites its students to “push your boundaries, to lead and to serve, to open your heart and to hone your mind.”

Marquette’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides assistance through mentorship, academic programs, financial assistance, counseling/advising, and other campus support services to those who are first-generation college students, and/or from low-income, disadvantaged backgrounds. Terrific support for RBL Scholars that begins the summer before college and then for all 4 years. Truly a key to success!

"I chose Marquette University because of the great support systems, it's close to home and there's many opportunities for students to be involved on campus. Marquette makes me feel like I'm growing every day." –Kyra Walker; NLCP 2020, Marquette 2024
