Chosen as one of the very first RBL Scholars, April was personally interviewed by the scholarship’s founder, Irv Lewis.
"I remember hearing about Mr. Lewis and his wife. I can vividly picture sitting in the room with him, talking and having someone else really care about what I wanted to do with life. I appreciate everything he's done for me, and he continues to be an inspiration to me. Having the scholarship was my motivation; ‘I have to keep the GPA up, I have to finish this, I have to make it good because I am receiving so much help that I have to succeed in it and stay focused.’ If Mr. Lewis were here today, I would just say ‘Thank you– and I hope that I am making them proud. You’re making my dreams come true.’"
April recently completed her clinical fieldwork in Hobart, Indiana and is studying for the board certification exams required to become a Registered Occupational Therapist.
